L&Q join forces with NASSA for basketball training
Basketball is a youth participation sport that's rising in popularity, and the need for more qualified coaches has seen L&Q and NASSA join forces to offer free sessions and qualifications to young people in East London.
L&Q has joined forces with NASSA (Newham All Star Sports Academy) to offer basketball sessions and qualifications to young people in Leyton, Redbridge, Hackney and Newham. NASSA are a charity providing basketball sessions and training programmes in local communities.
Basketball is one of the country’s fastest growing youth participation sports and there is a real need for more qualified coaches and officials to meet the growing interest in the sport. This programme will help to meet these needs through NASSAs training, accredited qualifications, volunteering and work placements.
Local Children and Young People aged 8+ can benefit from the free weekly basketball sessions and 165 young people aged 14 and over will gain accreditations that will add value and transferrable skills to their CV and support their progress into a career in sports development.
