Set up after the 2011 riots, Mancunian Way is a multi-award winning charity with ground breaking projects that get to heart of social issues, empower young people to make positive informed choices, build resilience and constantly promote personal responsibility.

Mancunian Way run many street based projects, a homeless project and 2 community centres and its working in partnership with Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group in the delivery of two Community Ambassadors Programmes.

The Salford Young Ambassadors have been running since 2017 and have supported their community by running a Hate Crime Awareness Event and fun days for local young people. They have also visited several businesses to understand what it takes to get a job and to learn more about different career options. They have visited construction sites, housing associations and large corporates such as L’oreal, Virgin…

I really enjoy working with Mancunian Way, I have learnt so much. It has increased my confidence and made it easier for me to speak to people I don't know. The work placement at the Hilton with the Head Chef was fantastic, I want to do that again, but also try something new!

Funded by the #iwill Fund, The Hackney Young Ambassadors is a joint project between Guinness Housing and Clarion Housing that allows local young people to get involved in their community, be the voice for their fellow young people, learn new skills essential for a successful life and to be part of the solution to improve their own neighbourhood.

Our Hackney ambassadors were recruited in October 2018 and have spent the last two months working on a neighbourhood consultation with young people to gain their views of life in Hackney and understand what issues matter to them and what they would like to ask a politician if they had the opportunity.

Next month, they are planning to organise a ‘youth meeting’ where they will be speaking to their local elected politicians, handing over the information they have discovered and asking for answers.

This will be a positive experience for the young people to discuss youth related matters that affect their lives now and into the future.
